How a purchase works
- 01
You send us the specification
Segment or model, year, budget and quantity. If we have the cars, you get a VIN list the same working day. If we do not, we tell you that too.
- 02
We send the VIN list and a pro-forma invoice
Chassis number, colour, mileage, steering and the documents supplied, car by car. Go through the list before you confirm it — nothing is due until you do.
- 03
You pay against the pro-forma invoice
100% in advance by bank transfer (T/T). The invoice states the account, the amount and the date the cars will be ready for collection.
- 04
We issue the release note
Once your payment has cleared, we issue the release note in your company’s name and confirm the collection date in writing.
- 05
You collect
You or your forwarder collect from the stated location in Western Europe. The documents travel with the cars.
What travels with the cars
The pro-forma invoice lists the documents for every VIN — before you pay, not after.
| Registration certificate | The European registration document for the vehicle, where one is supplied with the car. |
|---|---|
| Certificate of Conformity | The manufacturer’s EU Certificate of Conformity (CoC). Required for first registration in most European countries and in many markets outside Europe. |
| Commercial invoice | The final invoice, issued by ATA Export in your company’s name, with the VIN of every car. It follows the pro-forma invoice. |
| Export de-registration | Proof that the vehicle has been de-registered for export, where the country of registration requires it. |
| CMR consignment note | Issued by the carrier when the cars leave by road, and signed on collection. |
Who does what
ATA Export
Sources the batch, confirms the price in writing, reserves the cars with the supplier for five working days, issues the release note and the commercial invoice, and hands over the documents supplied with each car.
You
Confirm the list, pay against the pro-forma invoice, arrange collection, and handle customs clearance and registration in the destination country.
Registration requirements differ from country to country and change at short notice. We state what each car comes with. Checking that a car can be registered in the destination country is the buyer’s responsibility, before the order is placed.
Payment in advance — and what you get for it
We pay our suppliers when you confirm the batch — before your payment reaches us. That is why the full amount is due in advance. Here is what stands behind it.
You see the cars before you pay
The VIN list comes with the invoice, not after it. Nothing is due until you have been through it and confirmed it.
The price cannot move afterwards
What the pro-forma invoice says is what you pay. No fee is added later, and no price is revised between confirmation and collection.
You can check who you are paying
A Danish limited company in the public register. The three people you will deal with are named below, with their direct numbers.
Terms
| Price | Per car, in EUR or USD. The pro-forma invoice states the currency and the rate applied, and the price holds for the reservation period on that invoice. |
|---|---|
| Minimum order | Five cars is where the pricing works. Ask us if you need fewer — we will tell you straight whether it is worth doing. |
| Payment | 100% in advance by bank transfer against a pro-forma invoice. |
| Reservation | Cars are reserved with the supplier for five working days from the date of the pro-forma invoice. After that, stock is subject to prior sale. |
| Release | A release note is issued once full payment has cleared. The collection date is stated on the pro-forma invoice. |
| Collection | Collection and transport are arranged by the buyer. The collection address — or addresses, in the few cases where a batch is split — is stated on the pro-forma invoice before you pay. |
| Registration | Registration requirements differ by country. Checking that a car can be registered in the destination country is the buyer’s responsibility, before the order is placed. |
| Availability | All stock is subject to prior sale. |
| If a car is sold first | You choose: a comparable car at the same price, or that car taken off the order and the amount returned within ten banking days. |
The questions we get asked
How do I know who I am paying?
ATA Export ApS is a Danish limited company. Our CVR number is stated on every quotation and pro-forma invoice, and can be looked up free of charge in the public Danish company register. The three people you will deal with are named on the contact page, with their direct numbers.
Left-hand or right-hand drive?
Both occur, and it varies from batch to batch. Steering is stated per car on the VIN list, so you know exactly what you are getting before you confirm anything.
Can I inspect the cars before I pay?
You see the full VIN list before you pay. If you want to inspect the cars in person or send an agent, say so when you ask for the list and we will tell you whether inspection is possible at that location.
What if a car is sold before my payment clears?
All stock is subject to prior sale. If a car is sold before your payment reaches us, you choose: a comparable car at the same price in its place, or that car taken off the order and the amount returned to you within ten banking days.
Do you arrange shipping?
No. You arrange collection and transport. We tell you exactly where the cars are and what travels with them, and if you need a forwarder we can tell you which ones other buyers on your route use.
Is there a minimum order?
Five cars is where the numbers work for both of us — below that, the paperwork costs more than the deal is worth. If you need fewer, ask. We will tell you straight whether it can be done.
Who can buy, and where can the cars go?
We sell to registered companies, mainly in Africa, the Middle East, the Caucasus and Eastern Europe. Tell us the destination and we will tell you whether we can supply it and which documents the cars will need.
Tell us what you need.
Segment, year, quantity — and the destination country. If we have the cars, you get a VIN list the same working day. If we do not, we tell you that too.
